I put this one out as a play on Twitter after we got confirmation that Isaiah Pacheco would remain out another week for the Chiefs. While Pacheco remains on the shelf, Kareem Hunt is put in prime position for a monster game here against the Panthers.
After suffering their first loss of the season, the Chiefs find themselves in a cushy bounce-back spot as a double-digit favorite over the Panthers — who happen to be coming off consecutive wins. Kansas City always seems to find a way to make games closer than they need to be, but I do expect the Chiefs to be in control for a majority of this game.
The game plan should be simple — utilize the ground game against the worst run defense in the NFL. Carolina is allowing over 160 rushing yards per contest, and Hunt should be in line for the large majority of the carrier. Hunt is off a pair of poor games, but the game script didn’t set up for the run in either, so he saw fewer carries. Assuming that number goes up, and Kansas City doesn’t fall behind, we could see 20-plus carries here for Hunt. Carson Steele is barely mixing in for a carry or two per game, leaving the rest of the workload to Hunt.
The matchup and game script can’t get any better than this, so play on Hunt to his yardage over, and consider laddering his yards in some parlays if you’re looking for a bigger payout.
