Justin Herbert gets a lot of praise for his cannon arm, but he is also excellent at putting his head down and using his legs. He displayed this trait on occasion at the University of Oregon, notably rushing for a trio of scores in the 2020 Rose Bowl.
When he first came into the league, his rushing prowess was more on display, but substandard offensive lines and nagging injuries have all but erased his designed carries. Where Herbert has been lethal on the ground is when he is extending plays. When he escapes the pocket and breaks contain, defenders have a difficult time wrapping up the tremendous athlete.
Baltimore’s secondary is the Achilles heel of the team, and Los Angeles will almost certainly have to trust their passing attack if they want to come away with the victory. An uptick in dropbacks actually increases Herbert’s rushing chances since he tends to only scamper when facing pressure. He can get to 40+ rushing yards in just three or four attempts, so it won’t take much for him to cruise past this line.
