The Chiefs look to get back in the win column when they square off with the feisty Panthers on Sunday afternoon. Despite the team’s success, Patrick Mahomes hasn’t had the statistical output this season many expect from the best signal caller in the sport.
On DraftKings Sportsbook, Kansas City is currently a -10.5 favorite, with the game’s total set at 43 points. Below, I’ve detailed my favorite prop bet centered around Mahomes for this out-of-conference showdown.

Patrick Mahomes Over 250+ Passing Yards (+135)
It’s been an odd campaign for Patrick Mahomes, who is winning games but has not been the sensational grim reaper many have become accustomed to. For the first time since his college days at Texas Tech, he’s looked vulnerable, and the “wow” moments are becoming a tad more scarce. Even throughout this slump, if you can even call it that, it feels like it’s inevitable that the return to being the scariest gunslinger on the planet is coming.
Carolina is an excellent “get right” spot for Mahomes, who is itching to stuff the box score. The Panthers have the third-worst EPA per play defensively in the league. They’ve allowed at least 28 points in six of their ten games and routinely get decimated by chunk plays in the secondary. Even with a middling pass-catching core, this unit is not talented enough to contain Mahomes. Kansas City only has a two-game lead in the AFC West, so they have no motivation to phone it now.
The 29-year-old has surpassed this line in three of his last four outings, the only exception being last week’s defeat in Buffalo. A motivated Mahomes against a bottom-tier club is a scary sight. Add in the fact that this is plus value and an uber-enticing prop.
