Every Friday at 3 p.m. ET, DraftKings Sportsbook analyst Steve Buchanan and NFL guru Meghan Townsley chop up the latest injury news on Injury Report Live! Check out what they have to say about this latest injury to Brock Purdy (shoulder).
A chaotic season for the 5-5 49ers just got worse. On Friday, the team ruled starting quarterback Brock Purdy out for this weekend’s game against the Packers, making a crucial matchup even more difficult. Even though San Francisco employs some of the game’s best offensive weapons, it’s now difficult to imagine they can keep pace with a Green Bay offense scoring the eighth-most points in the NFL (25.0 PPG). Head coach Kyle Shanahan will likely try to prioritize Christian McCaffrey ($8,500) and the running game, but an early deficit could lead to plenty of passes.
With Purdy sits, which 49ers can you slot into your lineups with confidence? Who will start behind center? Meghan (@mtownsleyy) and Steve (@SBuchanan24) assessed the state of San Francisco’s offense during Friday’s edition of Injury Report Live:
- Should Purdy ($6,400) sit, Meghan would prefer Joshua Dobbs ($4,000) over Brandon Allen ($4,000). The former Vikings QB has had some fantasy success before, so he might do well against a familiar opponent. However, the team has announced that Allen will get the starting nod.
- It might be difficult to trust San Francisco’s wide receivers, but George Kittle ($6,000) could still put up points on Sunday. Green Bay has given up the 20th-most DK fantasy points to tight ends.
- Although the Packers haven’t been great against the run, McCaffrey hasn’t looked like himself since returning to action in Week 10. Still, the All-Pro is good enough to make an impact as a receiver if he can’t get going on the ground.
