Every Friday at 3 p.m. ET, DraftKings Sportsbook analyst Steve Buchanan and NFL guru Meghan Townsley chop up the latest injury news on Injury Report Live! Check out what they have to say about this latest injury to Sam LaPorta (shoulder).
Fans might not have noticed it during last week’s 52-6 drubbing of the Jaguars, but the Lions went without Sam LaPorta ($4,300) in Week 12. The tight end suffered a shoulder injury that kept him out of action last week, even though the NFL’s highest-scoring offense (33.6 PPG) clearly didn’t need any help. Detroit will have a slightly more challenging time on the road against the Colts, so there’s reason to believe Jared Goff ($6,600) will look to his young TE down the field. Still, the second-year pro has struggled to produce on a consistent basis this season.
Is LaPorta worth starting this Sunday, or will the Lions lean elsewhere? Meghan (@mtownsleyy) and Steve (@SBuchanan24) discussed the tight end’s chances of delivering a big performance on Friday’s edition of Injury Report Live:
- LaPorta has struggled this season, averaging 8.8 DK fantasy points. However, the Colts are vulnerable against tight ends, giving up the fourth-most points to the position.
- Steve is looking elsewhere due to Detroit’s overpowering run game. The Lions have rushed the ball 60 times in the red zone with David Montgomery ($6,700) and Jahmyr Gibbs ($7,300) so far, making it tough for a touchdown-dependent player like LaPorta to make an impact.
- If you’re looking for a Lions pass catcher, Jameson Williams ($6,000) might make more sense. The wide receiver has more big-play upside than LaPorta at a slightly more expensive price.
