DraftKings Showdown Captain (CPT) Picks
Saquon Barkley ($16,800)
Why didn’t more organizations attempt to sign Saquon Barkley again? Outside of injuries, what was the rationale for a 27-year-old athletic specimen not succeeding with a better franchise and team around him? Barkley has not helped reinvigorate the running back position while having the most dominant campaign of his career.
Barkley is averaging 113.7 yards a contest while being viable in the passing game. He’s the primary reason his club is first in EPA per rush—showing an incredible burst between the tackles. Playing behind a solid offensive line has finally unlocked his ceiling, and he’s putting up All-Pro caliber stats.
The LA front seven is starting to come alive, but it has still struggled to shut down the run. Barkley is a must-start regardless of opponent, but this favorable matchup has to put him in captain consideration.
Jalen Hurts ($16,200)
Jalen Hurts has become the premier fantasy football option. In a volatile league littered with inconsistent offensive outputs, Hurts has avoided catastrophe better than anyone. He’s never dipped below 15 points in a game this season and has put up at least 18 points in six straight outings.
He’s a total red zone vulture, either utilizing the elite weapons on the outside to score through the air or “tush push” to punch it through on the ground. Hurts is responsible for 23 total touchdowns, but that rushing upside gives him an undeniable edge.
Los Angeles has a below-average defense that has proven to be increasingly vulnerable on the back end. With the infrastructure around him, it’s almost impossible for Hurts not to put up numbers. It’s only fitting to continue to ride the hot streak and consider giving the Philly signal caller the crown.
Cooper Kupp ($14,400)
PSA: Cooper Kupp is still elite. The veteran receiver is still unguardable, creating instant separation with one of the surest pairs of hands in the NFL. Kupp’s lingering injuries are of little concern because few can compete with his production when he’s on the field. Even next to another high-end option, the volume Kupp is generating is still tantalizing.
The Eagles‘ secondary is in the midst of an incredible stretch but has not faced an aerial attack this talented. Kupp can be limited, but he is impossible to slow down. I like him over anyone lined up on the other side, and his DFS value is too consistent to ignore.
