Is it time to hit the panic button on the Pacers’ star point guard yet? Tyrese Haliburton has dazzled since he arrived to Indiana, earning All-Star recognition two seasons in a row following his blockbuster trade from the Sacramento Kings for Domantas Sabonis. But a hamstring injury last season combined with whispers of a back injury has helped explain his underwhelming averages this season. He’s now putting up 16.1 PPG, 8.5 APG on 38.3% FG. I’m not sure whether a matchup against the Houston Rockets, the fourth best defense in the Association, is the time to start piling money on Haliburton’s Overs. Or is it?

Points 17.5 (Over -120 / Under -110): It’s difficult to get a pulse on Haliburton’s scoring at the moment. He’s eclipsed 20 points just once in his last five games when he demolished the New York Knicks on the 10th for 35 points, 14 assists, and four triples. Since then, he’s tallied 9, 18, 16, and 16 points, the most recently of which was against the feeble Toronto Raptors (sorry Raps fans). Haliburton’s points O/U tonight is lower than his season-average. Additionally, Jalen Green is questionable for tonight’s game. Presumably, Amen Thompson will start in his stead, which makes Haliburton’s scoring prospects even more dire. I think there’s value in going Under here.
Assists 9.5 (Over +110 / Under -142): Hali is one of the most gifted playmakers in the league but, again, tonight may not be the matchup in which he’ll be able to generate a ton of offense. The Rockets are a staunch defense with Ime Udoka at the helm and have held opponents to a league third-best 105.7 points per game. Hali may struggle to get himself going this game, and might resort to play making throughout this game. If you’re skeptical about his ability to create shots for others in tonight’s game, then going under could return value.
Threes 2.5 (Over -142 / Under +110): His shooting form is notoriously ugly but you can’t deny it’s effective. Well, this season, maybe you can. Hali is converting a career-worst 28.8% from beyond the arc this season and you can attribute this fall-off to whatever you’d like: back issues, hamstring issues, cold shooting, whatever. Statistically he’s not hitting many threes, and that’s unlikely to change tonight. Houston is holding opponents to a league fourth-best 12 three point shots made per game, and Hali may struggle to get his shot back on track tonight.
