NFL Week 12 Start or Sit: Jonnu Smith

NFL Week 12 Start or Sit: Jonnu Smith

Jonnu Smith ($4,100) erupted for a 6/102/2 receiving line last week vs. the Raiders, resulting in a career-high 31.1 FPTS. In the win for the Dolphins, the tight end saw a big increase in playing time. Smith led the Dolphins with 35 routes and his 92% route rate was a season high. Furthermore, his 22.9% target share marked a season-best for Smith and this rate tied Tyreek Hill for the highest for Miami.

Given the Dolphins convincingly won the game by 15 points, Smith should continue to run a route on most of his team’s dropbacks this Sunday vs. the Patriots, giving him solid upside against a New England defense that is yielding the eighth-most yards per pass this season (7.1). In this spot, Miami boasts a high 26.5-point implied team total on DraftKings Sportsbook.

Smith has been targeted on a strong 21% of his routes with Tua Tagovailoa starting this season and while we can’t expect another 30 FPTS outburst, the tight end should score double-digit FPTS and is a solid starter for most season-long formats in Week 12. Additionally, at his $4,100 salary for DFS on DraftKings, Smith is one of the best values at his position for Sunday’s main slate.
