Week 12 Start or Sit: Cedric Tillman

Week 12 Start or Sit: Cedric Tillman

While Tillman ($7,000 for Showdown) is coming off a quiet 7.7 FPTS showing vs. the Saints, his usage remained strong with eight targets in the win for the Browns. With Amari Cooper now in Buffalo, Tillman has operated as Cleveland’s No.1 receiver. In these first four games since Cooper was traded to the Bills, Tillman has led the Browns with a 22% target share. He has run a route on 92% of his team’s drop backs. Notably, Tillman has seen 10 targets over 20 yards and five red zone targets during this span, both of which are team highs.

Before the dud vs. New Orleans, Tillman had scored at least 18 FPTS in each of his first three starts as Browns’ top wideout. Even when including last week’s subpar outing, Tillman ranks 15th among receivers in FPTS per game since Week 7 (18.1).

For Week 12, Tillman is facing the Steelers on Thursday Night Football. While Pittsburgh is a stout defense, they are more vulnerable through the air than on the ground, and the Browns should continue to be a pass first offense in this spot. With Jameis Winston under center the last three weeks, Cleveland has ranked second in the NFL in pass rate.

Tillman should bounce back with a solid performance and he is still a strong WR3/FLEX start for most season long formats. Furthermore, at an affordable salary of $7,000, Tillman is a compelling play for Thursday’s Showdown slate on DraftKings, that may get overlooked after last week.
