It shouldn’t be surprising that, with an infrastructure around him, Kyler Murray is back to being a superstar signal caller. Arizona just having an average offensive line is a massive upgrade, and his emphasis on being a pocket passer has allowed him to have his healthiest stretch in years. Murray has his Cardinals at 6-4 and in the driver’s seat in the AFC West.
His sizzling start has translated to fantasy, as he has climbed to QB9 overall and is eighth in average points per game. The position has a clear drop-off after the top five guys, and Murray is getting hot at the right time. Regardless of the competition, the 27-year-old has been a sensation. Can he keep up this elite form on the road against a vaunted division foe?
Kyler Murray is a league-winning option
Murray gets a date with a Seattle defense that is 22nd in EPA per play. It’s a unit that has looked good in spurts but has struggled to contain the better offenses they’ve faced. Arizona has plenty of pass-catching talent to challenge the shaky secondary and should have no problem moving the ball through the air. The Seahawks front seven is tenth in pressure rate, but that’s in large part to some early-season beatdowns against inferior competition.
Although he’s prioritizing being a traditional dropback passer, Murray is still lethal with his legs. He has scampered into the endzone three times in his last four games and is incredible at evading defenders to extend plays. Mike Macdonald might have a phenomenal defensive mind, but there’s no way of stopping this version of Murray—he can only hope to contain him.
Murray is a must-start regardless of league format and is one of the more tantalizing DFS options. If he’s buried on a bench somewhere, it’s best to target him now before he fully goes nuclear. He’s scored over 20 fantasy points in three of his last four performances and should hover around that mark for the foreseeable future. Freshing coming off a bye, Murray is one of the premier quarterback choices of the Week 12 slate.
