Donovan Mitchell U 4.5 assists (-120)

While the Cavaliers have been the best team in the NBA this season, one thing that has declined is Mitchell’s role as a playmaker. The guard is averaging only 4.1 assists per game this season after averaging 6.1 assists per game a season ago. Mitchell’s assist rate has dropped from 28.3% last season to 19.4% this season, and he is averaging 3.4 potential assists per game less as well. Overall, Mitchell has only gone over 4.5 assists in five of his 15 starts.

This is a product of the Cavaliers being back to full strength after the team was plagued by many key injuries last season, which left Mitchell in a massive role for many of the games he was available for. Notably, Mitchell, Darius Garland, Evan Mobley and Jarrett Allen only played 30 games together last season.

Boston also presents a tough matchup, as it ranks eighth in defensive efficiency this season. Cleveland ranks seventh in the category and this game may end up being a lower-scoring affair than anticipated.

Nonetheless, this assist line is slightly too high for Mitchell right now and betting this under is the right call.
