Contrary to popular belief, Jokic’s absence isn’t a huge boost for Murray. The guard has made two starts with Jokic inactive the last two seasons and Murray has finished with only 16 points in both those contests. With Jokic off the floor the last two seasons, Murray’s usage has only risen 1.1 percentage points and he is averaging 20.2 points per 36 minutes, well under Murray’s points line for tonight.
The veteran is shooting a career-worst 39% from the field this season and this matchup with the Grizzlies also doesn’t bode well for Murray, with Memphis ranking fourth in defensive efficiency.
The Grizzlies are giving up the eighth-fewest points to point guards this season and Murray should fall short of this high 23.5-point line Sunday.
