DraftKings Showdown Captain (CPT) Picks
Joe Mixon ($16,500)
The Houston run game is baffling. Joe Mixon is having one of the most productive years of his career in his first year with the new club. He’s crossed the century mark in five of his seven games and has generated his best yards per carry since 2018. Mixon has scampered in the endzone eight times and, by every metric, is an elite fantasy asset.
At the same time, the group is horrible at running the ball. They rank 28th in EPA per rush and have the most rushes for negative yards in the league. The offensive line has been subpar, but offensive coordinator Bobby Slowik’s obsession with pounding the rock on early downs has become the primary issue for the struggles.
Regardless of the efficiency, Mixon has homerun potential and is getting nearly 25 touches a game. Against a front seven decimated by injury, Mixon is an obvious captain candidate.
CeeDee Lamb ($16,200)
The Dallas game plan should be simple: get CeeDee Lamb involved early and often. The superstar wideout has had a disappointing campaign for his standards, only surpassing 100 yards once and only scoring four touchdowns after netting 12 last year. Even before the injury to starting quarterback Dak Prescott, the pair’s chemistry was a mess, and Lamb was never able to get out of the blocks.
This isn’t a team that will tank, and there should be a conservative effort to get Lamb more involved. Even with the attention he draws, he’s a dominant force on the perimeter and is dangerous after the catch. The Texans’ secondary has struggled to contain elite wideouts, and Lamb is due for a stellar outing.
C.J. Stroud ($14,700)
Even with the stellar crop of rookie signal callers, C.J. Stroud is still the premier young QB. Houston’s franchise cornerstone might not be putting up video game numbers, but his command of navigating muddled pockets and premier arm talent helps make him a cut above the competition. Stroud is an excellent distributor and can make any throw on the field.
Dallas can’t muster stops, and with the offense taking a step back, they are susceptible to allowing points in droves. The aerial attack needs to get off the ground, and giving Stroud the crown is the best way to bank on all the pass catcher’s success.
