Cam Johnson ($5,700)
Instead of trying to capture the Flagg, this Brooklyn squad, under new coach Jordi Fernandez, has been incredibly frisky. The group has an infectious energy that compensates for its lack of star power. After wasting away for much of his tenure in the Big Apple, Cam Johnson has found the form that made him one of the more intriguing role players in the league.
He’s much improved as an offensive creator, pairing a newfound aggressiveness with a career 39% stroke from beyond the arc. Johnson looks far more confident in his handle and going toward the cup. It’s not surprising he’s flourishing as a primary option in an offensive scheme, trying to do more than just tank.
Johnson has scored at least 15 in four of his last five games and gets a rematch against a New York team he just dropped 17 against. He can get hot in a hurry—it’s all about finding the bottom of the net early and often.
Robert Williams ($3,000)
If Robert Williams can stay healthy, he can be one of the most dominant rim-runners in the NBA. The seventh-year pro has had a plethora of lower body injuries that have dramatically slowed down his development. Boston shipped the big man across the country to Portland, where he’s only played nine games in two years.
Despite how disappointing this current stint has been, Williams is uber-talented. In his only outing playing over 20 minutes this year, “Timelord” stuffed the stat sheet, putting up 19 points and snagging nine rebounds while chipping in three blocks and three steals. He understands his role as the anchor to a defense who is a menacing lob threat and gifted offensive glass cleaner. Regardless of the matchup, I like Williams to perform at a high level when he’s in the lineup.
