Detroit Pistons ML (-125) – 1-unit
The Pistons are playing good basketball of late, coming off a couple of exciting overtime games. Detroit won against the Heat in its NBA Cup game on Tuesday, and is in a good spot to improve to 2-0 in the tournament. The Pistons were close to winning against the Bucks on Wednesday, but ultimately fell just short in overtime for the second game in a row. This team has a win over the Lakers and played the Celtics down to the wire. I expect the Pistons to be the better team on Friday in a meaningful game against Toronto.
Carlton Carrington OVER 10.5 Points (-105) – 1-unit
The Wizards only two wins of the season are against this Hawks team from back in late October. Carrington played well against Atlanta, scoring 13 points in just 21 minutes and then 16 points in 33 minutes in this matchup. Those games were back-to-back, and since Carrington jumped from 21 to 33 minutes, he’s played at least 30 minutes in seven straight games. While the rookie’s only over this point total in four of his last eight, this matchup should help him get there again. Trae Young is back for the Hawks, which has this total the highest in the NBA tonight (with over 70% of the money on the over). Expect Atlanta to play with pace, and the defense to take a step back with Young in there. Good spot for Carrington to continue his success in this matchup.
Peyton Watson OVER 11.5 Points (-120) – 1-unit
Watson has been getting some good run with Aaron Gordon out, playing between 31 and 40 minutes in the last four games. Now Nikola Jokic joins Gordon on the sidelines, so Watson should see all the minutes he can handle, plus be relied upon to take on a lot more of the workload offensively. Already having scored exactly 16 points three times in his last four games, look for Watson to continue scoring against this rundown Pelicans squad.
Yves Missi OVER 7.5 Rebounds (+110) – 1-unit
Speaking of the Pelicans, they remain without six of their top eight rotation players on Friday against Denver. Just ridiculously bad injury luck for this team, which has forced the rookie from Baylor to play significant minutes. Over the last two games in particular, Missi is averaging over 28 minutes per game, and put up a double-double in each game. Going against a Denver roster that’s down Jokic, we’ll take the plus money for Missi to pull down at least eight boards again.
James Harden OVER 2.5 Made 3s (-135) – 1-unit
Little bit of a narrative play here, as James Harden is four triples away from passing Ray Allen on the 3-pointers made list. He came out in an interview and said it would “mean a lot” to do it in Houston, which is where he’s playing tonight. You can go for 4+ (+155) for a better payout, but he’s only done that one time so far this season (versus making three or more on six occasions). I think Harden will be gunning in this one, but I’ll play on the standard 2.5. Maybe split your bet up a little bit if you want to ladder these.
Nets Props
I’m waiting for the Nets to put out their starting lineup to get the players I want here. Most likely Ben Simmons will be the player I target with Nic Claxton out, but Jalen Wilson or Noah Clowney could be of interest as well. Simmons has been playing well when he’s on the floor lately, and will be worth looking at on a combo prop. Will post my play to Twitter once the props I’m looking for are made available.
