Joshua Palmer ($5,800)
Joshua Palmer has the skills to step up on a team desperately needing a high-end pass catcher. The third-round pick in 2021 was supposed to be the WR1 heir apparent with the off-season departures of Keenan Allen and Mike Williams. He’s second on the team in receiving but only has 342 yards on the campaign and is quickly losing his status as the second option on the outside.
As a prospect, Palmer flashed the ability to be a technical route runner who can create separation near the line of scrimmage. That hasn’t consistently translated during his time in Los Angeles, but Palmer’s archetype of a reliable safety valve is still intriguing. Having any share of this aerial attack is a risk, but rolling the dice with the 25-year-old could pay dividends.
Cincinnati’s secondary is so shaky that it offers the chance for a “get right” game for any wide receiver. He’s due for a solid performance, and his resurgence could pay dividends for a team fighting for a Wild Card berth.
Tanner Hudson ($3,800)
Is it time to take Tanner Hudson seriously? The utility tight end has been in the league since 2018 but has spent the bulk of his time on various practice squads. He’s primarily been a blocker in 12 personnel but is coming off the best showing of his career. The veteran snagged six receptions for 42 yards and a touchdown in the offensive explosion against Baltimore, thanks to another week with an uptick in snaps.
It’s easy to write this off as a fluke outing, but the Bengals love to air it out. Anyone on the offensive depth chart has a chance to catch the rock or find the end zone, and they tend to default to the hot hand. Hudson has a massive 6’5″ frame and could continue to see work in the flats and help move the chains. At such a cheap value, he’s worth a dice roll.
