DraftKings, your paradise of DFS nirvana, has done it again with a new contest called NBA Starting 5. You select one point guard, one shooting guard, one small forward, one power forward and one center. There is no salary cap. The only stipulation is that you must select players from at least two different teams.
For Saturday’s Starting 5 slate, there are four games.
As for injuries, Damian Lillard is out. Bobby Portis and PJ Washington are doubtful. Lauri Markkanen, Jrue Holiday and Miles Bridges are questionable. Keep track of all the pertinent injury updates at DK Live.

Point Guard
Luka Doncic has scored at least 50 FPTS in each of his last seven games, with three outings over 60 FPTS and a high of 71.75. He’s a threat to triple-double on any given night and has a ceiling that is unmatched by few in the game, which is in the 100-FPTS range. Over the recent seven-game stretch, Doncic has played over 40 minutes in four.
Shooting Guard
Kevin Huerter has a wide range of outcomes, as he can finish ranked in the teens or go for 40 FPTS. Over the last three games, he’s exceeded 40 FPTS twice while finishing with 15.75 in the other. With Malik Monk injured, Huerter has seen his playing time and role expanded. He’s played 37 and 35 minutes lately and contributed across the board. He’s racked up three steals in each of the last three games. That likely won’t happen again, but he’s been grabbing rebounds and dishing out assists. The only issue is if he doesn’t shoot well, then his minutes could get shaved.
Small Forward
Jaylen Brown has scored at least 40 FPTS in all but two games this season. He’s averaging 36.2 minutes per game while garnering a usage rate of 31.3 percent. Toronto is playing at the eighth-fastest pace while ranking 29th in defensive efficiency. Consider the reigning Finals MVP in your lineups.
Power Forward
LeBron James has been scorching hot, with three triple-doubles in a row, not counting Friday’s game. And therein lies the issue, as he’s playing the second leg of a back-to-back. I’m not sure if he will even play due to rest. I do like John Collins a lot as well with Walker Kessler out, but Markkanen remains questionable and may take up the usage. So, Jayson Tatum it is. Boo hoo, the tears are flowing down my cheeks due to this consolation prize. The same logic as the Brown selection applies, as the Raptors play fast and eschew defense. Tatum has scored at least 40 FPTS in all but one game this season, with four results above 60.
Center
Anthony Davis has played in one back-to-back this season and put up over 50 FPTS in both games. I’m not as worried about him as I am LeBron. Davis stuffs the stat sheet and dominates at both ends of the court. He’s put up at least 50 FPTS in all but two games this season, with three outings over 60 and a high of 71.5 FPTS. New Orleans is 27th in defensive efficiency and, while opposing matchup Yves Missi is an athletic freak, Davis is an even bigger one.
