Trae Young missed Wednesday’s surprising victory over the Celtics, as the former All-Star was tending to an Achilles issue. However, his absence won’t be long, as Young does not carry an injury designation into Friday’s tilt with the Wizards.
With Young on the bench, Keaton Wallace made his first-career start for the Hawks and logged 31.9 minutes. The rookie shot poorly — going just 3-for-13 from the field — yet he finished with seven points and eight assists. Dyson Daniels and Jalen Johnson were the focal point of Atlanta’s offensive attack versus Boston, combining for 37 field goal attempts and 17 assists. Daniels’ 28.4% usage rate was by far a season-high and, for 2024-25 as a whole, he’s seen his usage rate jump from 18.1% when sharing the court with Young to 25.2% with his teammate on the bench.
Young is having another outstanding statistical campaign. In 11 games, he’s averaging 23.9 points and a career-best 11.5 assists. Expect him to do big things in a fantastic matchup against the Wizards.
