Lauri Markkanen best prop bets for Jazz vs. Mavericks

For Thursday’s only NBA game, the Mavericks head to Utah to face the Jazz. On DraftKings Sportsbook, Dallas is a nine-point favorite and this game’s total is set at 230.5 points.

Below, I have featured my favorite Lauri Markkanen prop to consider from this contest.

Best Lauri Markkanen Prop Bets on DraftKings Sportsbook

Lauri Markkanen Under 20.5 Points (-120)

Markkanen has been underwhelming in the scoring department this season. After averaging 23.2 PPG last season, Markkanen is only scoring 16.7 PPG this season. The forward has been dealing with back spasms and only once has Markkanen has scored over 20 points in his six starts.

Markkanen is shooting a career-worst 39% from the field, which likely is a product of his lingering back issue and the forward’s 23.2% usage rate is a 1.8 percentage point decrease from last season. Plus, Walker Kessler (hip) is out for the Jazz, which should hurt Markkanen’s usage even further. John Collins will likely continue to start in place of Kessler, and Collins is a player who garners a much higher usage rate than Kessler, ultimately decreasing Markkanen’s opportunities. With Collins on the floor the last two seasons, Markkanen’s usage has dropped 2.1 percentage points.

Add in a poor matchup with a Dallas team that ranks 12th in defensive efficiency and 23rd in pace, and Markkanen is a great target to go under 20.5 points tonight.
