C Yves Missi, New Orleans Pelicans vs. Denver Nuggets, $5,000
Missi is a relatively low usage asset, but he is on the heels of back-to-back double-doubles, including a 39.25 DKFP outburst to start the week against the Nets. That’s some pretty decent ceiling for a man priced at $5,000. The rookie big man has been forced to start the Pelicans’ last seven games as the team’s roster has been absolutely decimated by injury. Specific to the frontcourt, New Orleans has been playing without Zion Williamson (hamstring) and Herb Jones (shoulder). Friday presents a tempting matchup, too. Denver ranks sixth in pace (101.2) and 19th in defensive rating (114.2), which helps explain why it’s surrendering the second-most FPTS per game to opposing centers in 2024-25.
PG/SG Anthony Black, Orlando Magic vs. Philadelphia 76ers, $3,800
Black is not currently shooting the ball well, nor does he possess a massive usage rate. However, the sophomore does just enough in multiple categories to be viable. Black’s exceeded 20.0 FPTS in each of his last five games, culminating in a season-high 30.25 FPTS against the Pacers on Wednesday. The former lottery pick made only two field goals in that contest and registered just six points; yet thanks to six assists, five rebounds and four steals, he was able to have a huge DFS impact. Simply put, Black is consistent. He brings a sturdy floor to the table with a price tag below $4,000. He’s a safe asset and, if he ever has a great shooting night, he’s suddenly quite valuable.
SG/SF Grayson Allen, Phoenix Suns at Oklahoma City Thunder, $3,700
You’ll have to keep an eye on this one. While Kevin Durant (calf) and Bradley Beal (calf) have been definitively ruled out for Friday’s tilt with the Thunder, Allen is currently listed as questionable due to a hamstring issue — the same ailment that caused him to miss Wednesday’s loss to the Kings. That meant Royce O’Neale ($5,600) was moved into the starting lineup, yet if Allen is available, he could very well get the call. Allen started 74 contests for the Suns last season, averaging 13.5 points per game and leading the NBA in three-point shooting percentage (46.1%). In the few minutes the veteran has seen in 2024-25 with both Durant and Beal off the court, Allen is in possession of a notable 21.4% usage rate. Allen could be the secondary scoring option after Devin Booker ($9,700) and his upside if he plays is worth much more than $3,700.
