The Commanders and Eagles meet on what’s a surprisingly big football game in the NFC East to kickoff NFL Week 11 on Thursday Night Football. I’ve gone back and forth on this game, initially leaning to Washington +3.5, but not regretting not grabbing the Eagles at -3. Maybe as we get closer to kick I’ll wind up firing on something, but if you’re looking for some prop action, this might be a good game for a Same Game Parlay.
Saquon Barkley is the player I have circled here, in a positive matchup as a home favorite. Let’s breakdown why the former Giant might be in line for a big night.
Washington Commanders at Philadelphia Eagles
Barkley has been a massive addition to the Philly offense, and as you would expect, the team tends to win when he puts up his best numbers. Saquon has gone off for 100+ rushing yards five times this season. The Eagles are a perfect 5-0 in those games, and in four of them he has found the end zone.
Washington is top-five in the NFL in passing yards allowed, and just added elite cornerback Marshon Lattimore from the Saints. The way to attack this defense is on the ground, where the Commanders rank 28th in rushing yards allowed per game at over 142. Those numbers go up in road games (151.4), and have gotten worse in general over the last three games (166.7).
With the Eagles leading comfortably over the Cowboys last week, I think they might have had their eyes on preserving Barkley for a much bigger game hosting Washington on a short week. Saquon had just 15 touches on Sunday, which was his second lowest workload of the season. He should be ready to go here in a matchup that dictates his skillset.
As of Thursday morning, I don’t have enough confidence to play anything for a normal sized bet in this game. But I do think this SGP is well correlated and a good way to attack the game if you’re looking to side with the home favorite.
