Should the Jets keep Aaron Rodgers as starting QB for 2025?

The Aaron Rodgers experiment in New York has been a failure. Although his numbers could be worse, Rodgers has done nothing to bring success to the organization. Through 10 weeks of the NFL season, Rodgers has completed 62.4% of his passes while throwing for 15 touchdowns and seven picks.

For a Jets quarterback, those are great numbers, but unfortunately, that doesn’t equate to wins. The Jets record is currently 3-7. Granted, the defense has taken a step back in 2024, but regardless, Rodgers is still not delivering wins this season. He has had all his main weapons healthy all season, with Breece Hall and Garrett Wilson playing every game in 2024.

On top of that, New York traded for his favorite receiver, Davante Adams in mid-season, and how has that worked out? Adams is averaging 51.5 receiving yards per game in the Green and White and only has one touchdown grab in his four games. The bottom line is that nothing is working with this current group of Jets players. It’s time to clean house, start from scratch, and enter 2025 with a new coach, general manager and quarterback.

On Wednesday Aaron Rodgers said “he thinks” he wants to play again in 2025, and that’s fine, as long as the Jets draft a quarterback in the first round next season to wait in the wings. If the plan is for the rookie to wait behind Rodgers, I’m all for it. However, the organization can not go into 2025 with him as the only legit option at signal caller.
