LaPorta is coming off a strong 3/66/1 performance vs. the Texans last Sunday (15.6 FPTS) but is dealing with a shoulder injury and didn’t practice Wednesday, which doesn’t bode well for his availability for Sunday’s matchup against the Jaguars.
If LaPorta suits up, he will be in a strong spot, with Jacksonville giving up the second-most yards per pass this season (7.6). Unfortunately, his usage has been very concerning this season.
After seeing a 21% target share last season, LaPorta’s target share has decreased to 13.7% this season. Additionally, his route rate has slightly dropped from 78% last season to 74% this season. With the smaller role, LaPorta is scoring just 8.8 FPTS per game and has only scored double-digit FPTS in three of his nine starts.
The 23-year-old tight end has been very touchdown-or-bust this season, like many tight ends, and now that he is dealing with an injury, he cannot be considered a must-play in fantasy football even if he does up end active this weekend.
