They received some bad news Monday night, with Damian Lillard entering concussion protocol and getting ruled out of the Bucks’ matchup against the Raptors on Tuesday. Khris Middleton (ankle) also remains unavailable and Antetokounmpo should do everything in his power to help Milwaukee defeat Toronto in this must-win situation.
With the Bucks struggling to find their identity this season, Antetokounmpo has been doing his best to keep the team afloat, with the superstar averaging a career-high 31.6 PPG. Middleton has yet to play this season, but even with Lillard active for all these games, Antetokounmpo has scored at least 34 points in three of his past five starts, including a season-high 43 points vs. the Celtics on Sunday.
With Lillard now joining Middleton on the sidelines, Antetokounmpo’s already massive role should grow to new heights. With Lillard and Middleton off the court this season, Antetokounmpo’s usage has risen to an enormous 37.3%. He is averaging 33.4 points per 36 minutes.
On top of the expanded role and this being a must-win for the Bucks, Antetokounmpo will be on his home floor and facing a Toronto team that ranks dead last in defensive efficiency and fifth in pace this season. Additionally, the Raptors surrender the fifth-most points in the paint, which is ideal for Antetokounmpo, who does most of his damage inside.
Despite missing Lillard, the Bucks carry a 116.5-point implied team total on the DraftKings Sportsbook, which is the third highest of the 16 teams competing Tuesday night.
All things considered, this 32.5-point line for Antetokounmpo is just too low for the superstar tonight, and backing him to go over this number is an easy choice.
