The NBA Cup is back, which means there’s plenty of star players taking the floor on Tuesday. With eight games in action, figuring out which big names to start in season-long fantasy and DFS formats is no easy task. Here are three guards at the top of tonight’s slate:

1. Luka Doncic, Dallas Mavericks at GSW ($11,100)
It won’t be easy against a revamped Warriors defense, but Luka Doncic is set to dominate once again. The Slovenian superstar is slowly returning to form after a rocky start to the season. While the counting numbers are still impressive (28.1 PPG, 8.1 RPG, 8.1 APG), his shooting efficiency has tumbled (41.2 FG%). However, a recent string of stellar performances has Doncic on a roll entering Tuesday’s game.
Over his past five games against Golden State, Luka has gone off with 32.2 points, 8.4 rebounds, and 11.8 assists. To make matters worse for the Warriors, wing Andrew Wiggins is questionable to play. Doncic is a beast even when he’s slightly off, but it looks like the 25-year-old is starting to heat up.
2. Anthony Edwards, Minnesota Timberwolves at POR ($8,800)
Now that Karl-Anthony Towns has been traded to the Knicks, Anthony Edwards is getting an insane amount of volume. That’s created a fantasy basketball environment where the Minnesota star doesn’t even need to shoot the ball well to produce a monster stat line. So far, he’s averaging 28.3 points, 5.8 rebounds and 3.8 assists.
While all of those numbers are great for the Timberwolves, its bad news for Portland. So far, the Trail Blazers are giving up the most DK fantasy points in the NBA to opposing guards. When these two teams met on Friday, Edwards posted a monster 37-point, six-rebound, five-assist performance. Something similar could be in the cards tonight.
3. LaMelo Ball, Charlotte Hornets at ORL ($9,600)
Much like Doncic and Edwards, LaMelo Ball has entered the realm of elite stat-stuffers. Spurred on by a league-leading 37.6% usage rating, the former All Star has put up a career-best 29.4 points per game to go along with 6.2 assists and 4.9 rebounds. The most impressive number for fantasy purposes might be Ball’s 13.0 three-point attempts per game, also tops in the association.
Unfortunately for the Hornets, a date with Orlando makes it tough to propel Ball to the top of Tuesday’s list. The Magic are a phenomenal defensive team, especially on the perimeter, as they allow the sixth-fewest DK fantasy points to opposing guards. Charlotte’s face of the franchise will still get his, but he’s not someone I’m keen to back over other, cheaper options.
