I don’t know about you. But, after what was a bizarre and frustrating Sunday Night Football from a fantasy scoring perspective, I’m really hoping this game tonight can provide some fireworks. And why not? The fantasy-relevant names, many of whom remain in starting lineups with head-to-head matches hanging in the balance, are many: Cooper Kupp, Kyren Williams, Tyreek Hill, De’Von Achane, Puka Nacua, Jaylen Waddle. You could even throw Raheem Mostert in there, as I’m sure some folks did at FLEX.
Optimism on prop markets (unless you were a John Metchie III backer) wasn’t the play last night. But, may I remind you: Murphy’s Law! For every dud, there will be a dynamite.

Best Puka Nacua prop bet for Rams vs. Dolphins on Monday Night Football
Puka Nacua o5.5 receptions (-130)
Both in terms of the line and the odds, this is as far as I’m willing to stretch this prop, I think. Should it jump to -140, or should the line move to 6.5, I would either stay away or take the under. But, for now, there’s enough value in this bet to smash it while the market holds this way.
Let’s talk meaningful intangibles, first:
- Nacua was ejected last week for a shove/punch against the Seahawks. Many feel the punishment was disproportionate to the severity of the unnecessary roughness. Nacua, the young professional that he is, blamed himself, and promised to be better this week.
- Alternative way to look at it: His knee got two-and-a-half more quarters of gameday rest to convalesce.
- We have no reason to believe that Puka’s knee injury from the offseason will be fully healthy in 2024, especially with last week’s practice scare. However, he practiced all three days in advance of tonight’s matchup.
- The Cardinals won’t stop winning, so the Rams need to do everything they can to keep apace in the NFC West
Again, intangibles. But with this Los Angeles Rams team the last four weeks, context has been important. Must-win games have resulted in plus-plus fantasy performances from Matthew Stafford, Puka Nacua, Cooper Kupp, and Kyren Williams at different points throughout the last three games.
One last slightly-more-tangible intangible that doesn’t fit the above list: The Rams’ offensive line is the healthiest its been since Week 1. The significance of this cannot be understated.
A boost up front: the Rams are expected to activate OL Steve Avila and Jonah Jackson off injured reserve ahead of Monday night’s matchup vs. Miami.

Why the above matters for Puka o5.5 receptions
Last year, when the Rams got healthy and went on their second-half run, Puka actually only cleared this number in one game. All of his heavy-reception games were during his record-breaking stretch to start his rookie season in 2023.
This is a different team, however. Puka seems to be more involved in the screen game, when healthy. That used to be the Cooper Kupp role, but if you’ve been watching, Kupp is running far more pre-snap motions than Puka to confuse the defense. Their time together on the field has been limited. But in his two most recent games opposite Cooper Kupp, Matthew Stafford targeted Puka on screen passes three times.
I do think the Rams are going to be a bit hesitant to throw outside in the short-to-medium game, as the expectation is that former Ram Jalen Ramsey is going to be playing his most inspired football of the 2024 season. I like this to mean a lot of extensions of the run game via the pass, and I think Puka benefits most from this.
Bottom Line
This feels to me like the Monday Night Football game between the Chiefs and Bucs, when everyone was waiting for Travis Kelce to break out. I think his line might have been the exact same (5.5 rec) and he cleared it in the first half.
Puka Nacua is becoming a superstar personality of his own within the league. His brand is “ball is life.” Give me that guy in a bounceback spot to snag 7+ receptions under the Monday Night Lights.
