Fantasy Football Start ‘Em, Sit ‘Em Week 10 Cheat Sheet

Updated:

By: Jeff Pratt

Do you have tough lineup decisions to make Sunday? I’ve got you covered.

Welcome to your one-stop shop for Week 10 fantasy football start/sit advice. In this article, I’ll highlight one pick from each of my positional start ’em, sit ’em articles for this week’s slate. Check out each article for a deeper dive into that position!

Quarterback

Start ‘Em: Brock Purdy (49ers) at Buccaneers

After failing to score 16 fantasy points in four of his first five outings, Purdy has flipped a switch as of late.

The former Mr. Irrelevant has been anything but that from a fantasy perspective, racking up at least 20 points in three straight outings before San Francisco’s bye last weekend. In his return to action, not only will Purdy likely be getting Christian McCaffrey back at his disposal, but he’s also facing a Bucs defense that allows the second-most fantasy points to quarterbacks per contest.

All signs are pointing up for the Niners’ QB.

Running Back

Sit ‘Em: Javonte Williams (Broncos) at Chiefs

Williams has been solid over the last couple weeks following his 26-point outburst against the Saints. The fourth-year back has received at least 14 touches in each of his last two outings, and while the efficiency has been lacking, his production has been decent.

The problem? You don’t start running backs who are facing the Kansas City Chiefs, unless they’re elite. Williams doesn’t fit that bill.

The Chiefs allow the fewest fantasy points to opposing backfields and the third-fewest rushing yards. This run defense is not to be trifled with. Not only do I expect Williams to struggle mightily with his carries, but game script could take him out of this contest early if the Chiefs go up big in the first quarter. There will be matchups worth starting him in, but this isn’t one of them.

Wide Receiver

Start ‘Em: Josh Downs (Colts) vs. Bills

In the Colts’ Week 9 defeat to Minnesota, Downs proved he’s a capable WR2 even when he doesn’t find the end zone.

The speedster hauled in six of nine targets for 60 yards. It wasn’t a fantastic performance like we’ve seen from him consistently over the last few weeks, but 12 PPR points will get the job done. With Joe Flacco under center, Downs’ fantasy ceiling checks in at WR1 level on a game-to-game basis.

The second-year receiver draws a tough matchup against Buffalo this weekend, but he should remain heavily featured once again.

Tight End

Sit ‘Em: Sam LaPorta (Lions) at Texans

It’s been a year to forget for LaPorta, who is coming off yet another underwhelming performance. The star tight end has seen only 12 targets over his last four contests, officially entering touchdown-or-bust territory.

That’s not a game I want to play against the Texans, who allow the fewest fantasy points to this position. It’s hard to justify outright dropping LaPorta, but he should be benched for the forseeable future.
