NBA Best Bets: Best prop bets for November 9

Updated:

By: Sean Barnard

After a jam-packed night of 13 NBA games, there are just four matchups on today’s Saturday slate.

To kick off the day, the Utah Jazz will face the San Antonio Spurs at 5 EST. The Cleveland Cavaliers will look to remain undefeated as they face off with the Brooklyn Nets while the Atlanta Hawks and Chicago Bulls will play in the 7:30 EST slate. Lastly, the Los Angeles Clippers will host the Toronto Raptors with this game tipping off at 10:30 EST.

There will be more eventful days of NBA basketball, but there are still plenty of options on the betting board. While you can check out each matchup on DraftKings Sportsbook, here are my favorite player props for November 9.

Keyonte George Over 15.5 Points (-115)

UPDATE: Keyonte George has been ruled OUT for the matchup due to left foot soreness.

The Utah Jazz are off to a 1-7 start to the season and firmly in the midst of a rebuild. However, Keyonte George has been a notable bright spot. Last year’s 16th overall pick has taken a significant stride forward in his production and has seen much more opportunity in the offense. So far this season, the Baylor product is averaging 15.6 points, 6.4 assists and 2.9 rebounds per game. George is leading the team in shots at 14.8 per game with 8.8 coming from beyond the arc, which also leads the Jazz.

Looking at tonight’s matchup, the Jazz are set to take on the Spurs. Utah is still searching for a source of stable offense and currently ranks 30th in points per game and offensive rating. San Antonio has impressed defensively so far this season, headlined by the play of Victor Wembanyama. Expect the Defensive Player of the Year favorite to be tasked with Lauri Markkanen for this matchup and for the Jazz to be forced to rely on production from the guards.

George has recorded more than 15.5 points in three of the opening eight games but has room for improvement as a shooter. Overall he is shooting just 32.2% from the field and 30.0% on three-pointers. He has attempted 18 shots in three games this season and had at least 11 field-goal attempts in every game. This level of consistent volume carries value and his better scoring outputs are still set to occur. Look for him to jump on the opportunity tonight and for him to attempt double-digit three-pointers, which he has done three times this season. San Antonio ranks 20th in opponent three-point percentage so far this season. Expect this to convert to enough scoring production and for George to eclipse 15.5 points in this matchup.

Dennis Schroder Over 16.5 Points (-110)

There has been plenty of attention paid to the success of Cam Thomas to start the season, but Dennis Schroder’s level of production is also worthy of praise. The German guard has averaged 19.9 points, 6.8 assists and 3.0 rebounds per game through the opening nine matchups. The 14.7 shot attempts per game are the most he has tallied since the 2019-20 season with the Oklahoma City Thunder where Schroder finished second in Sixth Man of the Year voting and averaged 18.9 points per game.

Cleveland is off to a 10-0 start to the season and has been the most impressive team in the league to start. However, its perimeter defense is probably the largest concern and Schroder should fare just fine with Darius Garland as his primary defender. Schroder has recorded 20 or more points in six of the first nine games.

Ben Simmons is set to miss this matchup, which provides more of a need for guard play, and Schroder has recorded at least 32:27 of game play in every matchup. This level of production is more sustainable than the odds are indicating as he has averaged over 16.5 points per game in four different seasons already. Expect him to go down swinging in this matchup and have plenty of shot attempts, even if it is in a losing effort. The 16.5 points prop is too low based on how much is on Schroder’s plate, so expect him to go over this number tonight.

Zaccharie Risacher Over 1.5 Made Three-Pointers (-115)

Don’t look now but Zaccharie Risacher has quietly looked like a No. 1 overall caliber talent in recent games. The French product had his breakout game against the Knicks where he produced 33 points, seven rebounds, three assists, three steals, two blocks and knocked down 6-of-10 three-point attempts. While this level of play is not quite sustainable, it was nice to get a look at what Risacher is fully capable of.

Overall this season, he has averaged 11.5 points. 3.7 rebounds and is attempting 5.1 three-pointers per game. Risacher has attempted four or more three-pointers in eight of the 10 games and made at least one three-pointer in seven games.

His shooting should also be expected to improve as Risacher has not lived up to the 40%+ rate he produced overseas. The Hawks are set to face the Chicago Bulls, who rank 27th in points allowed. Expect Risacher’s volume to continue and for his 27.5% three-point percentage to continue climbing as the games go on. Look for him to knock down at least a pair of threes in this matchup and for the top pick to continue to grow in his importance to the Hawks.

Immanuel Quickley Under 16.5 Points (-120)

The Toronto Raptors will travel to Los Angeles for their first game in the brand-new Intuit Dome. This will also mark the return of Immanuel Quickley. The Kentucky product suffered a right pelvic contusion on opening night and has been held out for the past eight games. He is expected to make his return to the lineup today and likely will have more limited minutes than is typically the case.

On top of this, the Clippers are loaded with impressive perimeter defenders that will cause issues for Quickley and the Raptors. Players like Kris Dunn, Derrick Jones Jr. and Terance Mann will have success keeping Quickley in check. The former 25th overall pick had his best statistical output with the Raptors last season following the midseason trade. He averaged 18.6 points, 6.8 assists and 4.8 rebounds across the 38 games in Toronto.

In his absence this season, players like Gradey Dick and Ochai Agbaji have seen an uptick in opportunity. The pecking order will need to be sorted out once again when the team gets healthy. Between the lingering injury concerns, a tough matchup and a possible minutes limit as he works his way back, this should not be expected to be a breakout Quickley performance. Expect him to remain under the 16.5 scoring total in this matchup just as he did in 39 of the 68 games he played in last season. Better days are ahead for Quickley but capitalize on under 16.5 points against the Clippers as he works himself back to a strong level of production.
