Drake Maye ($5,800)
The lone bright spot in New England this November is their sensational rookie signal caller. Does he have weapons to throw to? No, not really. Pop Douglas is the only receiver who averages more than two yards of separation on his routes. Well, surely the offensive line is sufficient? Not even close. By almost every statistic and visual evidence, it’s one of the worst units in sports. The infrastructure around him is horrific, yet Maye has consistently shown signs he’s a star in the making.
His cannon arm, mixed with a gunslinger mentality, means the Maye will consistently launch the rock downfield. Even with a substandard cast of characters, he has such incredible touch that it doesn’t matter how open his targets are at times—the ball will be on a line. He’s even flexed his ability with his legs, scampering out of the pocket and making defenders look silly on the perimeter.
Chicago has a stifling defense that was embarrassed last week in Arizona. The matchup is less than ideal, but Maye is special enough to be a one-man show. His ceiling has yet to be scratched, and his DFS floor is sufficient with his excellent mobility.
Rome Odunze ($5,200)
The Rome Odunze breakout seems inevitable. After an offensive dud last week, there’s been plenty of buzz around the Bears’ passing concepts. Receivers routinely ended up in similar areas, with not enough plays having a safety valve near the line of scrimmage. Despite those valid concerns, Odunze was still able to have a monster showing.
The University of Washington product crossed the century mark for the second time in the campaign, snagging five receptions for 104 yards. He’s finally using his massive frame to his advantage on the outside and plucking contested balls out of the air.
New England has a secondary that, outside of Christian Gonzalez, can’t seem to stay in front of anyone. Gonzalez doesn’t travel, so Odunze will have plenty of time to make an impact. He only has one touchdown in eight games, so if he can cross the goalline, his fantasy value should skyrocket.
Dalton Kincaid ($4,900)
Continue to be patient with Dalton Kincaid. The second-year tight end was a standout at his position last season, establishing himself as one of Josh Allen’s favorite options over the middle. With a Stefon Diggs-sized hole at pass catcher, a massive leap seemed inevitable. For some reason, Kincaid can’t shake this early slump.
Last week against Miami, Kincaid was only able to corral four of his ten targets. He also hasn’t been much of a factor in the red zone, where Buffalo frequently tends to be. At some point, the talent has to rise to the surface, and Kincaid has the tools to regain his standing on the pecking order. Indianapolis allows the fourth-most fantasy points to tight ends, and it’s about time offensive coordinator Joe Brady schemes up a plan to get his x-factor involved.
