Santi Aldama ($6,100)
There’s an argument that Santi Aldama is emerging as one of the most underrated players in the sport. The 2021 first-round pick made strides last year on a Memphis squad ravaged by injury. This summer, Aldama turned heads on the international circuit, helping his native country, Spain, qualify for the Olympics. His masterpiece was burying six triples en route to a 27-point outing against an experienced Australian side.
That momentum has carried over into the regular season, now a regular starter at the four for a Grizzlies group looking to contend in a loaded western conference. Aldama’s more than just a sniper from a distance—he is methodical off the dribble and creates his own offense. Even with his disastrous stretch from three—just two for his last 25 from beyond the arc—he’s found other ways to make an impact. Aldama is a dramatically improved rebounder and a more confident playmaker.
He gets a favorable matchup against Portland, who is in the bottom third of the league in defensive rating. Don’t be surprised when Aldama shoots out of this slump with a massive bounce-back showing.
Tyus Jones ($5,100)
There are shades of another point guard maestro in Phoneix. Chris Paul helped turn around the Suns‘ culture by elevating everyone around him and even leading the franchise to a Finals. Tyus Jones doesn’t have Paul’s pedigree, but he’s a wizard with the rock and has been the table setter this group desperately needed.
Jones is a gifted distributor with a knack for navigating off screens and putting pressure on defenders near the paint. He’s not one to hunt his own shot, but he finishes nicely around the rim and has a solid mid-range stroke. He is the engine of this attack and is prone to stuffing the stat sheet.
Jones is my favorite DFS value against a Sacremento bunch that is not known for playing much defense.
