Alvin Kamara has been the lone bright spot in the Saints’ season so far. After starting the season 2-0 with the best-performing offense in the league, the Saints have lost an incredible seven games in a row. Derek Carr missed several games with an injury and Head Coach Dennis Allen was fired this week. Despite all of that, Alvin Kamara is one of the frontrunners for NFL Offensive Player of the Year. Kamara is 7th in the league in rushing yards and first in receiving yards among running backs.
The Saints’ top two receivers, Chris Olave and Rashid Shaheed, have missed a significant portion of the season and will be out this week against the Falcons as well. Backup wide receiver Bub Means has also been placed on IR. Kamara leads the Saints in receptions and trails only Chris Olave in yards, who he could pass as soon as this week with just a decent game. Kamara is by far their biggest threat catching the football and should have another good game against New Orleans.
Kamara has always been a great pass catcher out of the backfield but particularly this season where he leads the NFL in receptions among running backs. Kamara has eight more receptions and 13 more targets than the next-closest running back in the league. Kamara has had six or more receptions in five of his past six games and should be able to clear that number again. The Falcons are allowing the fourth-most receptions per game to opposing running backs at 6.0 per game. Kamara will be the go-to guy for Derek Carr once again and clear his receptions prop of 5.5 which you can currently get at plus-money at DraftKings Sportsbook.
