With a 2-7 record, the New York Giants have not been a very good football team this season. Thankfully for fantasy football managers, Giants players have seen more success on the virtual gridiron.
Wide receiver Wan’Dale Robinson has been a pleasant surprise thus far, sitting just outside the WR2 value line as the overall WR25. Is he a start or sit option for Week 10 against the Carolina Panthers?
Analysis
The season so far
Robinson, a 2022 second-round pick out of Kentucky, is on pace for the best fantasy season of his young career. He’s talented after the catch and saw some of the league’s highest target volume over the first chunk of the campaign, with at least eight targets in six of his first seven games. Over that span, he posted double-digit fantasy points in all but two contests, though he never broke the 20-point mark.
However, Robinson has seen a decline in usage over the past two weeks with five targets against the Steelers and just four targets in last week’s loss to the Commanders. He scored 8.0 and 4.0 in those two contests.
With a per-game average of 11.0 fantasy points per game, Robinson has delivered WR3 or FLEX value more often than not this season. His ceiling just remains limited playing alongside rookie stud Malik Nabers while catching passes from Daniel Jones.
Week 10 matchup
The 5-foot-8 speedster is set to face a soft Carolina Panthers defense in Week 10. This is absolutely a winnable game for New York, and at this point, Daniel Jones is playing for his job. Granted, this one will take place in Germany, and these overseas games often result in on-field weirdness.
The Panthers allow an average of 232.6 passing yards per game, which ranks 25th in the NFL. They also fall 31st in EPA/pass at 0.28 and are 28th in opposing QB completion percentage at 70%. Overall, it’s a pretty juicy matchup for the Giants, even despite their signal-caller’s shortcomings.
Start or sit?
Considering the target volume Robinson has typically received this year, as well as the positive matchup for New York in a winnable game, he’s probably considered a start in fantasy football for Week 10.
While certainly not a WR1, or a confident WR2, Robinson is talented and can provide positive value as a WR3 or FLEX option in lineups. Even though he’s regressed a bit lately, this meeting with the Panthers puts him in prime position for a bounce-back performance in the 10 to 18-point range.
