Finally, after all the hype and buildup, we are one week away from the massive boxing event on Netflix headlined by “Iron” Mike Tyson and Jake “The Problem Child” Paul. The former Undisputed Heavyweight Champion of the world, Tyson, is returning in a professional boxing match. Tyson’s last pro fight was against Kevin McBride in June 2005.
Paul is the -275 favorite, while Tyson is a +210 underdog on DraftKings Sportsbook. Tyson is +350 to win by knockout, and Paul is +115 to get the finish.
Paul is 10-1 in his boxing career, having two wins over two former UFC champions, Anderson Silva and Tyron Woodley. In July, Paul knocked out BKFC “King of Violence” Champion Mike Perry in the sixth round. This is Paul’s fourth fight in the past 11 months, and he started his boxing career under five years ago.
Paul has headlined significant events at NBA arenas around the country in the past, but this event is on a different level. Over 90,000 fans are expected to attend AT&T Stadium in Dallas, Texas, the home of the Cowboys, for this event. This is Netflix’s first combat sports live broadcast.
Tyson competed against Roy Jones Jr. in an eight-round exhibition bout in 2020. Paul knocked out former NBA player Nate Robinson on the undercard of that fight. Tyson ended his professional boxing career on a two-fight losing streak and hasn’t won a fight since he beat Clifford Etienne in 2003. Paul’s last two fights were contested at 200 pounds. Will Tyson’s power be too much, or will Paul’s youth and quickness be the difference?
Paul is +275 to beat Tyson by decision on DraftKings Sportsbook. Check out my full preview of the Tyson vs. Paul boxing event here.
