The Philadelphia 76ers star PG Tyrese Maxey is expected to miss a few weeks due to a hamstring injury, according to ESPNs Shams Charania. Maxey suffered the injury in Wednesday’s 110-98 loss to the Los Angeles Clippers.
Maxey left the game yesterday in the third quarter. He finished the contest with 12 points, one rebound, and one assist on 5-13 shooting from the field. With Paul George and Joel Embiid out for the first five games of the season, Maxey took on a more significant role on offense. He is averaging 27.6 points, 3.9 assists, and three rebounds per game. Maxey is shooting over three more field goals per game than last season.
The Sixers have already been without their best player, former MVP Embiid, for the first seven games of the season. Embiid has been sidelined due to a knee issue. Although Maxey will be out for the foreseeable future, Embiid is set to make his season debut against the New York Knicks on November 12. Embiid is ready to play but is serving a three-game suspension for the incident with a media member last Saturday.
Philadelphia will struggle without Maxey’s scoring and playmaking ability. The Sixers will look for their second win of the season against the Los Angeles Lakers on Friday at 10:00 p.m. ET.
