We’ve got three games of NBA action to kick off Thursday night, with names like Anthony Edwards, Victor Wembanyama and Giannis Antetokounmpo all taking the floor. While a small amount of games doesn’t give us much to work with, there’s still value to be had on tonight’s slate. Here are three prop bets that could net you a big profit.
Giannis Antetokounmpo 7+ assists (-115)
While the team around him might be crumbling, Giannis Antetokounmpo is still thriving. The former MVP has put up a predictably monstrous 31.0 points, 12.3 rebounds, and 6.3 assists over six games this year, but it hasn’t been enough to elevate Milwaukee’s dismal 1-6 record. If anything is going to get the Bucks back on track, a date with the Jazz might be the trick.
Although Antetokounmpo isn’t known for his passing, he’s a willing distributor when given the chance. That could be tonight against a Utah team allowing 30 assists per game, second-most in the NBA. During his past three games against the Jazz, Giannis is averaging 11.7 assists per game, so there’s clearly something about this defense that gets him into pass-first mode. Given the Greek Freak’s ridiculous volume, seven assists is a reasonable line on any night, let alone against a vulnerable opponent.
Rudy Gobert 12+ rebounds (-115)
Rudy Gobert will never be an offensive threat or a good perimeter defender, but the reigning Defensive Player of the Year does two things better than almost anyone else: protect the rim and grab boards. That’s still the case in 2024, even if the Frenchman has seen his rebounding total ‘decline’ to 10.0 per game. After two straight disappointing performances against the Spurs and Hornets, this is the perfect time to buy low on the big man.
Gobert has dominated this matchup in the past. The seven-footer has gotten 12 or more rebounds in eight of his last ten games against the Bulls, and there’s no reason to expect resistance now. This season, Chicago is allowing their opponents to grab 48.3 boards per game, the second-highest mark in basketball. A relatively small roster outside of slow-footed veteran Nikola Vucevic will have their hands full trying to box out one of the best rebounders in recent NBA history.
Toumani Camara 10+ points (-110)
For those who haven’t been keeping up to date with the Trail Blazers, Toumani Camara has been one of this season’s biggest surprises. A small piece in last year’s Damian Lillard trade, Camara forced his way into Portland’s starting lineup after a strong preseason this summer. Although the numbers aren’t spectacular (9.8 PPG, 4.5 TRB, 2.6 AST), he’s playing over 30 minutes a night for a team lacking wing depth.
Camara is fresh off his best performance of the year, Monday’s 16-point, five-rebound, four-assist outing vs. the Pelicans. Most notable was his 37 minutes of play, as head coach Chauncey Billups has a clear level of trust with the former second-round pick. The Spurs will be without much of their guard depth tonight, including solid perimeter defender Jeremy Sochan, so it’s the perfect spot for Camara to record his fourth double-digit point total in his last five games.
