When Anthony Davis is healthy and on the court, he is one of the best players in the league. Unfortunately, he’s had a checkered injury history since 2018, playing in at least 60 games in a season just twice. Last season, he played 76 games, a career-high, and finished as the No. 4 player on a per-game basis for fantasy.
So far this season, Davis has played in seven-of-eight games and has been dominating, averaging 32.6 points, 11.6 rebounds, 3.0 assists, 1.6 steals and 1.7 blocks in 36.3 minutes per contest.
During Monday’s game against the Pistons, though, while he played 39 minutes, there were multiple instances late in the game when he landed on his left foot, causing him to stay on the floor and eventually limp up and down the court.
He sat out Wednesday’s game and is probable for Friday’s contest, but ESPN’s Shams Charania reported that Davis has been dealing with Plantar Fasciitis since the end of last season.
The Plantar Fascia is the tissue that supports the arch on the bottom of the foot and connects the heel to the front of the foot. Physical therapy, rest and medication are all utilized to address Plantar Fasciitis, with surgery the worst-case option.
This is something that Davis will likely have to deal with the rest of the season, so prepare your hearts and your minds because it’s going to be an emotional roller coaster.
