NBA Picks Today: The Jayson Tatum props you have to consider vs. GSW

The Celtics return home from a road trip to face the Warriors on Wednesday night. Aside from a big primetime matchup of one-loss teams, we also have a betting narrative heading into this game. Of course, you’ll remember Jayson Tatum being benched for multiple games during the Olympics, which happened to be coached by Steve Kerr. Will Tatum make a point of reminder Kerr just how good of a player he benched over the summer in Paris?

I also have four other player props I’m betting on in different NBA games on Wednesday — find those plays here.

Jayson Tatum OVER 29.5 Points (-120) – 2-units

Tatum is averaging 30 points on the nose and is 4-4 to the over on 29.5 points so far this season, so the posted number is fair. However, the Celtics have won multiple games in blowout fashion that have seen Tatum finish with a point total in the high 20’s without him playing late in the game. This should be a more competitive game with a now healthy Golden State in town. But we also have the narrative here, with Tatum looking to make a statement against Kerr and the Warriors. He’ll say all the right things off the court, but Tatum and his teammates would like to see him have a big night. Jaylen Brown will be sidelined for this one, so JT should continue to see higher usage that usual.

Jayson Tatum OVER 9.5 1Q Points (-120) – 1-unit

I also want to specifically focus on Tatum’s first quarter in this game. I think he’ll look to make his statement early in this one, but even without the narrative, this has just been a good play on the numbers all season. Tatum has been playing the entire first quarter this season, outside of the one game he picked up two fouls. He’s scored at least 13 first quarter points in 6-of-8 games so far, and should remain in attack mode here.

Celtics 1H Team Total OVER 57.5 (-120) – 1-unit

Celtics first half team total remains a wagon this season, now 6-2 to the over. Boston is averaging an NBA-best 66.9 points in the first half, including over 71 per game over the last three games. We’ve been playing this number up to 63.5 in some games, but with the Warriors giving up 47.7 points per game in the first half, we see a much lower number today. I’ll trust Boston’s offense at home over any defense, and continue to auto-play this one at a great number.

Celtics 1Q/Moneyline Doube Result (+110) 1-unit

I do like the Celtics to get off to a quick start in this one, as they have been all season. They got up for this one in a big way last season, getting out to a 44-22 lead after a quarter when Golden State came to town. I think the C’s get up for this one, and turn an early lead into a victory.
