SF/PF Tidjane Salaun, Charlotte Hornets vs. Detroit Pistons, $3,000
No one is going to look at Salaun and see a traditional big man, but the Hornets are desperate at the moment to just have tall people on the court. Charlotte comes into this evening’s contest with the Pistons missing both Mark Williams (foot) and Nick Richards (rib) — the team’s two primary centers. That’s left the Hornets in a scenario where they are currently starting the ageless Taj Gibson ($3,500) at the five. Obviously, it’s not ideal. At 6’9, Salaun at least provides some much-needed length. The sixth-overall pick is shooting a putrid 27.3% from the field in his rookie campaign, yet he’s directly on the heels of leading Charlotte’s reserves in minutes (22.1) and shot attempts (10) on Monday. At the absolute bare minimum price, the 19-year-old is worth consideration.
C Zach Edey, Memphis Grizzlies vs. Los Angeles Lakers, $4,400
Well, this is just a point of Canadian pride. There’s clearly no guarantees that Edey ever has another performance like he had on Monday night, but the fact that his price point has gone down $100 after registering 50.5 FPTS against Brooklyn is ludicrous. Edey logged a season-high 28.4 minutes in that tightly-contested loss, finishing with 25 points, 12 rebounds and four blocks. It’s certainly looks like an outlier box score when glancing at his numbers as a whole, yet things are trending in a very positive direction for the former lottery pick. Edey’s played over 20 minutes in three straight starts, averaging 15.0 points and 10.0 rebounds. In 2024-25, he’s also producing a noteworthy 1.16 FPTS per minute. Edey was always going to be an efficiency darling, it was just a matter of role. It feels like he’s breaking through in Memphis.
SG/SF Julian Champagnie, San Antonio Spurs at Houston Rockets, $4,500
The Spurs are beat-up at the moment. Devin Vassell (foot) hasn’t played all season. Tre Jones (ankle) has been missing since opening night. Now Jeremy Sochan (thumb) will be out an extended period following his surgery. It’s bleak if you’re a fan, but it does mean a lot of opportunity for some tertiary assets like Champagnie. In Monday’s loss against the Clippers, Champagnie logged a team-high 38.2 minutes. He only possessed a 15.4% usage rate, but still managed to score 21 points and grab five rebounds, resulting in 32.75 FPTS. The Rockets are a terrible matchup for DFS, as they rank in the top 10 in defensive rating and operate at the league’s second-slowest pace. However, if you’re less than $5K and are projected to play anywhere close to 35 minutes, you’re viable in my book.
