We’re back with more lists; NBA week two is in the books and somehow the Bucks are on a five-game losing streak. Who would’ve guessed they’d have fewer wins than the Hornets, Raptors, Pistons, and Wizards through the first two weeks?
We’re shooting the Three Lists of Threes today for your weekly dose of fantasy tips: Buy-lows, sell-highs, and streams.
Here are some streams we can consider.
Stream ’em
Moritz Wagner, PF/C, Orlando Magic
Magic star forward Paolo Banchero is currently sidelined for 4-6 weeks with a torn oblique. Wendell Carter Jr. is dealing with right knee tendinitis and a left plantar fascia strain. The Magic have incurred some significant setbacks already this season – although not to the degree of a team like, say, New Orleans – and there is a window for Mo Wagner to slide into a 25-minute or more role here. Wagner is a strong per-minute producer, with career averages of 19.4 PPG, 8.5 RPG, and 52.1% FG alongside 81.9% FT. He doesn’t hurt you anywhere and should be a serviceable stream while the Magic’s frontcourt recuperates.
Kyle Filipowski, PG, Utah Jazz
I wrote about Lauri Markkanen here as a buy-low due to his current unavailability, but his backup Kyle Filipowski is doing a modest, but rosterable, job of filling in for him. Filipowski is a second-round rookie out of Duke who is currently posting per-36 averages of 13 PPG, and 10 RPG. I’m not convinced of his game yet as the sample size is small, but he was an efficient and effective scorer in college and has the opportunity to showcase his skills as a pro.
We know the Jazz are not going anywhere. They have every incentive to continue developing their young pieces to see what they have to work with. At least for now, pick up Filipowski while Markkanen is sidelined and maybe, just maybe, he impresses enough to earn a long-term role on this team.
Jose Alvarado, PG, New Orleans Pelicans
The Pelicans have lost both members of their starting back court in CJ McCollum and Dejounte Murray. I wrote about the aftereffects of Murray’s injury here, but Jose Alvarado has now logged three consecutive games of 30 minutes or more playing time. Across these three games, Alvarado is averaging 12.3 PPG, 6.0 APG, and 1.3 SPG. Alvarado is an excellent source of assists and steals and has a concrete role for the foreseeable future. He’s not going to do your FG% any favors, but needs to be on a roster due to his increased role and New Orleans’ dependence on him.
