We’re back with more lists; NBA week two is in the books and somehow the Bucks are on a five-game losing streak. Who would’ve guessed they’d have fewer wins than the Hornets, Raptors, Pistons, and Wizards through the first two weeks?
We’re shooting the Three Lists of Threes today for your weekly dose of fantasy tips: Buy-lows, sell-highs, and streams.
Here are some sell-highs we can consider.
Sell ’em
Jordan Poole, PG, Washington Wizards
After a disappointing first season for the Wizards, Poole has been on fire to start this season. He currently ranks 7th in 9-cat leagues while averaging 22.2 PPG and 5.4 APG alongside a massive 2.8 SPG. His ranking is completely buoyed by strong steal numbers and a career-high 46.2% FG, about four percentage points above his career average. He’s also shooting 51.2% from beyond the arc, over 15 percentage points above his career average. You don’t need me to tell you these numbers are not sustainable; while Poole is a young and talented scorer, these numbers surely won’t stick around much longer. Offload him for a better player while his value is sky-high.
Buddy Hield, SG, Golden State Warriors
Hield has arrived at Golden State in blistering fashion. He’s rank 14 and is shooting 51.6% from the field and 51.7% from three. He’s averaging 22.2 PPG and has nicely filled in Klay Thompson’s role as the premier three-point shooter on this Golden State roster. While Hield’s red-hot shooting has been a strong part of Golden State’s 5-1 start, his numbers, like Poole’s, also are not sustainable. Hield’s career FG% is 43.5% and his career 3P% is 40%. He’s an elite shooter undoubtedly, but not even backcourt teammate Stephen Curry has finished a season making over half of his attempts from long-range. Curry is also sure to return soon, cutting into Hield’s usage and further reducing his efficacy on the court. Granted, Curry’s gravity does open up open looks for his whole team, but not even Hield will be able to sustain these nuclear shooting numbers.
Jarrett Allen, C, Cleveland Cavaliers
Allen is an integral part of the Cavaliers’ undefeated start to the season alongside front court partner Evan Mobley. Both centers have been impressive thus far and are posting strong numbers, both offensive and defensive. It makes you wonder what each of them would look like in their current state on separate teams.
Allen’s field goal percentage is currently second in the Association with 73%, trailing only Trayce Jackson-Davis, while putting up 1.4 blocks per game and a career-high 11.1 rebounds. Allen’s numbers won’t be too far off what he’s currently posting, but will nonetheless taper off a bit as the season progresses. I’m bearish on his rebounding numbers while Mobley is still in town. Flipping him for a third-round-level player, or better, is intriguing.
