The NBA is off on Tuesday, but they run one of the cooler slates of the season on Monday night. All 30 teams are in action, and the 15 games are scattered, all with different tip times (a game starts every 15 minutes all night). With the monster slate on deck, I have a handful of plays I’m making on Monday. Here are my best bets:
Anthony Edwards OVER 3.5 3-Pointers (-130) – 1-unit
Edwards has been making a clear effort to attempt more 3-pointers this season, and has also been vocal about it when asked by media. He opened the season making an insane 29 triples through his first five games on 67 attempts. Edwards connected from downtown at least five times in each of those games, attempting no fewer than 12 in any game (and attempting as many at 15). While he still shot efficiently on Saturday against the Spurs, Edwards strangely shot 3-of-7 from downtown in that game. I’m expecting him to ramp it back up against a poor Charlotte defense, and get back to the volume we saw in the first five games of the season. Saturday has outlier feel to it.
Celtics 1H Team Total OVER 62.5 (-112) – 1-unit
This has been a play of mine for a couple years now, and we won’t be slowing down on Monday. The C’s are machine-like on offense, even with Jaylen Brown off the floor. Boston is 4-2 to the over on the first half team total so far, and the Hawks aren’t a matchup that scare me away. The Celts are averaging 66.6 first half points per game on the road this season, and the Hawks rank well below average in points allowed.
Bilal Coulibaly OVER 14.5 Points (-115) – 2-units
This was a big play for me on Thursday, and Coulibaly cashed for us with a career-high 27 points. I forgot to go back to it on Saturday with a lot of other things going on in the sports world, but he went for 22 against Miami. Coulibaly’s prob is shockingly set to the same number, which is a bit surprising. He’s gone over this mark four games in a row, and is seeing more opportunities with Kyle Kuzma remaining out. The Warriors have been solid defensively, but I trust we’ll get plenty of volume here from Coulibaly.
Zion Williamson UNDER 28.5 Points (-120) 1-unit
Zion is coming off a season-high 34 points against the Pacers, but he’s been extremely tick-or-treat this season. He has another 31-point game in the mix, but is averaging just 21.4 points per game. Williamson has come up well short of this in three of his five games, scoring 16 points or less in each of the unders. Two of those games were against this very Portland team, which held Zion to a combined 30 points on 7-of-27 shooting in those two matchups. Too much respect here for Zion.
Kyle Filipowski UNDER 9.5 Points (-125) 1-unit
Despite going scoreless in nine minutes in the first two games of his NBA career, the Jazz have thrown the rookie into the fire with Lauri Markkanen out. Since Markkanen was injured, Filipowski has been inserted into the starting lineup, but it hasn’t always meant more production. In the game Markkanen went down, Filipowski scored 12 points, which he was able to replicate in his first NBA start. However, he followed it up with just two points on 1-for-3 shooting in 18 minutes in the other start. The Jazz are playing a lot of players in the rotation, and nobody is playing many minutes. That puts a ceiling on Filipowski’s time here, and he also should see fewer looks playing with the starters.
