Week 9’s fantasy football slate was high-scoring in general, with several players turning in monster performances. Eight players produced at least 30 fantasy points in Week 9 after just four reached that level in Week 8, three in Week 7, and four in Week 6. With so many high scorers, the winning entry in the NFL $2.75M Fantasy Football Millionaire also put up a jaw-dropping total of 262.1 fantasy points. Not only did the winning entry outscore second place by almost 20 fantasy points, but it was more than 50 points higher than last week’s winning entry and 80 points higher than the winning entry from Week 7. Congrats to chindog619 for building this beauty of an entry to claim Week 9’s “Crowning Moment.”

Fire, fire, everywhere
With over 260 fantasy points, every single player contributed a flame to chindog619’s winning entry. In the early wave, the entry got monster games from two chalky plays and two leverage wide receivers.
The two chalk plays that hit were De’Von Achane ($6,700; 32.1 FPTS) and Mike Gesicki ($3,100; 30 FPTS). Both were owned in over 20% of lineups but were the right play since they hit for 30+ fantasy points.
Achane continued to thrive with Tua Tagovailoa ($6,200; 17.54 FPTS) at QB. He totaled over 100 scrimmage yards and was the second-highest-scoring running back on the main slate. He scored two touchdowns in Miami’s loss–one rushing and this one receiving:

Gisecki also scored two touchdowns and was the highest-scoring tight end on Sunday’s main slate by a margin of 14 fantasy points. I tried Gesicki in my sleeper tight ends on Saturday, and even though he was chalky with Tee Higgins (quad), he delivered in a huge way as the Bengals routed the Raiders.

While those popular plays did deliver, this entry did find two great spots for leverage in the early wave. Zay Flowers ($7,000; 32.7 FPTS) was the only receiver in the early games to break 30 fantasy points and was owned in only 1.6% of entries. He hauled in two scores and racked up 127 yards on five catches including this highlight score:

Another great leverage wide receiver play from the early action was Quentin Johnston ($4,400; 25.0 FPTS), who was owned in just 2.9% of entries and also delivered 100+ yards and a touchdown.
The third receiver in the entry from the early wave was Courtland Sutton ($5,400; 26.28 FPTS), who didn’t catch a touchdown, although he did have 122 receiving yards, but he did throw a touchdown on this trick play:

Soaring high in the late games
While the entry from chindog619 was off to a good start, it really earned Week 9’s “Crowning Moment” in the late window. The top-scoring running back for the week was Saquon Barkley ($8,200; 36.9 FPTS), who looked majestic in kelly green while racking up 159 rushing yards, 40 receiving yards, and two touchdowns.
His most memorable highlight was this ridiculous backward hurdle that is sure to be one of the most viral highlights of the season.

While Barkley was flying high in multiple ways, the finishing touches on chindog619’s “Crowning Moment” came from another pair of birds as the Seahawks tried to climb back into their NFC West game against the Rams. This entry stacked Geno Smith ($5,800; 28.12 FPTS) as a value QB with Jaxon Smith-Njigba ($6,200; 40 FPTS).
With DK Metcalf out, Smith continued to throw JSN plenty of targets as he has throughout this season. This week, though, it finally clicked and resulted in a huge game for both players. Smith finished with 363 passing yards and three touchdowns and finished with over 28 fantasy points despite three costly interceptions.
Two of his three passing touchdowns went to Smith-Njiba, who was the highest scorer of the week with his seven catches for 180 yards and two scores. He was active and productive everywhere on the field, as you can see from this route chart:

Smith-Njigba’s game-tying touchdown also allowed more time for more production from him and Geno in overtime, although the Rams ultimately got the win on this incredible walkoff touchdown from Demarcus Robinson ($4,800; 27.4 FPTS).

The Bottom Line
With one of the best entry totals in a long time, chindog619 definitely earned the “Crowning Moment” of Week 9. The dynamic Seahawks’ duo put things out of reach late after so many early picks went off to give his entry a strong foundation to rocket past the rest of the leaderboard.
