Here are Barkley’s current prop bet odds at DraftKings Sportsbook: o/u 89.5 rushing yards and o/u 15.5 receiving yards. Barkley is -205 to score a touchdown, +265 to score 2+ touchdowns and +350 to score the first touchdown of the game.
Barkley is off to a flying start in his Eagles career. The Eagles are sitting at 5-2 and it’s partially thanks to Barkley who is second in the league in rushing yards, behind only Derrick Henry. On Sunday, they face the struggling Jaguars and their offense should be able to overpower Jacksonville.
The Eagles’ offense is second in the NFL in EPA/rush and 11th in EPA/dropback. They are also facing a Jaguars secondary that is dead last in the NFL in defensive EPA/dropback. The Eagles should be able to hit shots downfield against this Jacksonville defense and take an early lead. That will lead to Barkley getting a lot of carries and racking up rushing yards as the Eagles look to protect that lead.
However, as good as he has been running the ball, Barkley has not been much of a threat catching the ball out of the backfield. In four out of seven games this season he has had 11 or fewer receiving yards. Barkley has only had more than four targets in one game this season. This is a game where downfield throws should be open and the Eagles should be able to run the ball effectively, so the outlet throws to Barkley won’t be necessary. Therefore, I am betting Barkley to go under his receiving prop of 15.5 yards.
