While plenty of eyes will be on the Week 9 NFL slate, there are three NBA games set to take place today that are worth keeping an eye on.
The Brooklyn Nets will face off in the opening game, tipping off at 3:30 EST to kick off the day. Next, the Atlanta Hawks will face the Pelicans in New Orleans with the final game tipping off at 7:30 EST between the Orlando Magic and Dallas Mavericks.
There will be busier NBA days ahead, but here is my favorite prop bet in each matchup on the November 3rd slate. You can check out all the available betting options and prop bets on DraftKings Sportsbook here.
Cam Thomas to Score the Most Points in Nets vs Pistons (+100)
So far this season Cam Thomas is attempting 20.3 field goal attempts per game this season which ranks sixth in the NBA. He also ranks ninth in points per game thus far- pouring in 28.2 points per game.
Heading into this matchup with the Pistons, Cam Thomas’ point prop is set at 26.5 with the over holding -105 odds. Cade Cunningham holds the second-highest point prop in the matchup at 23.5 for the game. No other player has a scoring prop line set above 17.5 for this game.
With Cunningham the only true threat to compete for Thomas for the game’s scoring total, I like the +100 odds for the LSU product to lead the game in scoring. He most recently scored 32 points on Friday against the Bulls. Thomas has been the leading scorer across both teams in three of the Nets’ six games this season. Expect him to remain in attack mode and for Thomas to tally the most points once again.
Zaccharie Risacher Over 1.5 Three-Pointers (-110)
While he may have less hype than just about any first-overall pick in recent memory, the early returns have been mostly solid for Zaccharie Rischer. Through the opening six games, the Frenchman has averaged 8.2 points and 2.8 rebounds in his 24.2 minutes per game.
The biggest area where Risacher has struggled is from beyond the three-point arc. Standing 6-foot-9, Risacher’s ability to shoot from the perimeter was one of the biggest reasons he was selected with the top pick. After shooting over 40% on three-pointers during his international career, Risacher has shot just 22.2% so far this season connecting on six of his 27 long-range attempts.
The Pelicans have struggled to defend the three-point line thus far and provide a great opportunity for Risacher to begin getting on the right track. They are allowing 38 three-point attempts per game so far this season and opponents are shooting 38.2% on these attempts. This ranks 25th in the NBA. New Orleans will also be without Herb Jones and C.J. McCollum for this matchup which will further cause issues.
Risacher has attempted at least four three-point attempts in all but one game this season and as many as seven in a game already this year. He is a better shooter than he has shown and should have the volume to prove this. Expect some positive shooting regression to occur and for the Pelicans defense to help make this possible as Risacher connects on a pair of three-pointers for the first time in the NBA.
Jalen Suggs Over 4.5 Rebounds (-135)
Through the opening six games of the season, Jalen Suggs has averaged 18.7 points, 5.5 rebounds, 4.5 assists, and 2.3 steals per game. He has shown why the Magic handed him the massive contract extension shortly before the season and looks to be taking the next step in his development.
Heading into this matchup with the Mavericks, look for Suggs to continue to make his impact felt on the boards. He is on the shortlist of best rebounding guards in the NBA and Dallas is vulnerable at this spot. So far this season the Mavericks rank 19th in total rebounds and allow the eight-most offensive rebounds per game. Their opponent’s offensive rebounding percentage per game ranks the sixth-worst in the NBA as opponents are recovering a concerning 28.4% of their own shots.
Suggs has tallied five or more rebounds in three of the six games thus far including tallying seven rebounds twice already. His activity on the glass stands out when watching and the Mavericks’ disinterest in boxing out will be evident in this game. Expect Suggs to keep several possessions alive and for him to eclipse 4.5 rebounds again in this game.
