1. Kyle Larson ($11,500) — Homestead went the way it always does for Yung Money — all or nothing. Larson finds himself in a do-or-die situation. Early in his career, this would’ve been a problem at the short track in Southside Virginia. It’s not a problem anymore. Since joining Hendrick Motorsports — the masters of Martinsville — Larson has been elite at the Paperclip.
2. William Byron ($10,800) — The stats do not lie. Martinsville is a Hendrick track. Byron has three Martinsville wins. Two wins were in the Gen-7 car and one this past spring (94.8 DKFP).
3. Denny Hamlin ($11,300) — It’s a win-and-you’re-in race for Hamlin. This is his best track for that scenario. Hamlin is averaging 52 Hog Points (fast-lap and lap-led points) over the last four Martinsville races.
4. Chase Elliott ($10,500) — At least one of the Hendrick Motorsports drivers is not going to qualify for the Cup Series Championship Race at Phoenix. It’s anyone’s guess who. Every Hendrick driver led laps in the spring race and each of their playoff drivers finished on the podium.
5. Ryan Blaney ($11,000) — A must-win race at Martinsville set up his 2023 Cup Series Championship. He’s in the same spot this season. Blaney scored 129.95 DKFP in the pressure-packed 2023 Martinsville fall race.

6. Tyler Reddick ($9,000) — A major weight has been lifted off the shoulders of the 23X1 Toyota team. Martinsville is not one of Reddick’s best tracks. It’s possible that a relaxed Reddick could go on the attack. It’s more likely that this team is prepping for Phoenix.
7. Joey Logano ($9,800) — Martinsville has always been one of Logano’s best tracks. He’s earned a top-10 finish in seven straight at the flat, short track. That streak might end as Logano and Team Penske focus on the flat, short track in Phoenix.
8. Christopher Bell ($10,300) — The penultimate race of 2022 was won by Christopher Bell. His Martinsville win secured him a spot in the championship race. This time is no different. The playoff drivers have their backs against the wall and are going all-in.
9. Martin Truex Jr. ($9,300) — It seems strange to dismiss one of the best short-track drivers at a track where JGR has experienced tons of success. That’s what must be done. The only expensive drivers that will return value this weekend will likely be the playoff drivers battling for the final two playoff spots.
10. Chase Briscoe ($8,500) — It’s worth mentioning that Martinsville has changed. The Gen-7 car isn’t a great short-track car and nowhere is that more evident than Martinsville. Drivers must shift to make up for the lack of power. Shifting and the new style have allowed drivers to cover their mistakes. Briscoe went from the worst to one of the best at Martinsville under the new style.
11. Bubba Wallace ($7,800) — This isn’t a dig on Bubba Wallace, but he — like Briscoe — got a boost at Martinsville in the Gen-7 stock car. He’s earned a top-10 finish in each of the last four Martinsville races. Drivers no longer need to be perfect for 500 laps. Mistakes are mitigated by the cars’ inability to handle in dirty air. Mistakes no longer result in the loss of several track positions.
12. Ryan Preece ($6,900) — The SHR Fords have been strong at the short tracks for several seasons. The Gen-7 car has created parity across the circuit. Martinsville is no exception. Preece is averaging a 15th-place finish in his three races with SHR at Martinsville.
13. Alex Bowman ($7,700) — Can a non-playoff driver sneak away with a win in the pivotal playoff race? Bowman did it in 2021. If any driver surprises the field, the odds are it’s a driver in a Hendrick Chevy.
14. Todd Gilliland ($6,600) — The small team driver has earned a top-15 finish in three of the last four Martinsville races. This shouldn’t be a surprise. Gilly was always good at Martinsville in the Truck Series. The biggest moment of his career was his win at Martinsville in 2019.
15. Harrison Burton ($5,500) — This is the Wood Brothers home race and the Fords from Stuart, Virginia, have fared well at Martinsville. The small team technically allied with Team Penske has earned a top-15 finish in the last two fall Martinsville races with Harrison Burton behind the wheel. Burton’s salary affords the ability to slip another hog into DFS NASCAR lineups.
