The Saints are thin on options in the backfield heading into a great matchup for running back vs. the Panthers this week. Could that be Taysom Hill’s ($3,800) entrance music the band is starting to play?
Here’s the latest on all the Saints got done on a busy Saturday:

The Setup
With Williams out and Miller on IR, the only two running backs on the Saints roster for Sunday are Alvin Kamara ($7,800) and fullback Adam Prentice ($4,000). It’s a smash spot for running backs too, since no team in the NFL has been more generous to opposing running backs than the Panthers.
Opposing RBs have scored a massive 15 touchdowns against the Panthers in just eight games while averaging 128.5 rushing yards and 29.6 receiving yards per game.
This is beyond a smash spot for Kamara, and you can make a very strong case for him as the top running back play of the week. With Derek Carr ($5,600) back under center, this team should score points, and Kamara is positioned to scarf up plenty of usage and fantasy goodness.
If and when Kamara needs a break, though, Hill is a great option to incorporate, especially near the goal line. If you haven’t been following the struggling Saints in Carr’s absence, Hill was sidelined by rib fractures for three weeks. He had two rushing touchdowns and 14.4 fantasy points against the Falcons in the game in which he was hurt.
Last week, Hill returned and caught 2-of-4 targets for 21 yards and had four carries for 20 yards as well.
The Strategy
Hill is available on DraftKings DFS contests and in many season-long leagues as a tight end. Playing him against the Panthers is a way to “hack” the sytem a little bit and get an extra running back in your lineup–and it’s one in a great matchup too!
Hill is under $4,000 in DFS contests like the NFL $2.75M Fantasy Football Millionaire [$1M to 1st]. He brings a very high ceiling if he gets touches, although it’s high risk trying to figure out when exactly he’ll be in the Saints game plan.
This week, tt makes a ton of sense for him to be involved given the team’s injuries, but the nature of his game is such that he is involved when you least expect it and uninvolved sometimes when it makes sense.
If you’d rather back him with a player prop instead of playing him in DFS, he is +180 to score a touchdown in this very favorable matchup and the Saints are 7.5-point favorites on the road against the struggling Panthers.
