The Bengals are at home against the Raiders this week after taking a beating last week from the Eagles. At 3-5, they face an uphill climb to get into the playoff race. Worse than that is they’ll also likely be shorthanded for this week’s contest with Tee Higgins ($6,400; quad) and Zack Moss ($5,600; neck) listed as doubtful. Without Moss, Chase Brown ($5,900) shapes up to be a great fantasy play in this favorable spot against Vegas.
My colleague, Dan Johnson, included Brown as one of his smash starts of the week, and that was before the injury report came out indicating he’ll be in line for even more work.
Brown had three straight big games from Week 4 through Week 6, scoring four touchdowns and averaging 18.0 fantasy points per game. His best game of that stretch was a breakout performance of 23.2 fantasy points against the Panthers.
In the last two weeks, he had a couple of quieter games against the Browns and Eagles, but he should be perfectly poised for a huge bounce-back week getting almost all the work against the Raiders.
If Moss is out, Trayveon Williams ($4,000) could possibly mix in a little, but Brown should get the chance to be almost an everydown back.
In that role, Brown is a great DFS option in DFS contests like the NFL $2.75M Fantasy Football Millionaire [$1M to 1st]. He is -165 to score a touchdown, which actually seems like excellent value since the Raiders have allowed nine running back touchdowns in eight games this season.
The Bengals are 7-point favorites at home in this contest, and Brown could get a heavy workload if Moss is out and the Bengals play from ahead. I see him as a strong RB2 with RB1 upside in this scenario this week.
