DraftKings Showdown Captain (CPT) Picks
Justin Jefferson ($17,400)
I’m running out of new ways to praise Justin Jefferson. He’s the ultra-rare blend of flash and production, levitating above all other wide receivers while sporting an iced-out grill and an infectious swagger fans can’t help but love. He’s on pace for the third 1500-yard campaign of his young career as he continues establishing himself as one of the most talented in the sport.
Jefferson is coming off a monstrous outing against a disjointed Los Angeles Rams secondary, catching eight of his nine targets for 115 yards. Teams can aspire to limit the 25-year-old, but there’s no stopping him. He has one of the safest fantasy floors of any pass catcher in recent years because of his nose for the end zone. In his three “worst” games of the season, he’s scored in each one, with five TDs on the season.
Indianapolis has struggled to contain top wideouts with healthy signal callers. Jefferson is a different animal than anyone they’ve faced this year, and it’s hard to fathom that his stretch of dominance ends anytime soon.
Jonathan Taylor ($15,900)
When Jonathan Taylor is healthy, he’s a borderline elite running back. A true bell cow, the Wisconsin product routinely garners over 20 touches a game. Indianapolis is a different offense with him in the lineup, but he’s struggled to withstand such a demanding workload. He’s missed 15 games since 2022, including time this year with a high ankle sprain. The Colts have one of the premier offensive lines in the league, so when Taylor is upright, the rushing attack is lethal.
The Wisconsin product has surpassed the century mark in three of his five contests, including a 105-yard effort in Week 8 against Houston. He’s a physical runner who can get to the second level in a hurry. Taylor offers little upside with his hands, but having a monopoly share of carries translates to any format. If he continues to cross the goal line at such a great clip, Taylor is an ideal captain candidate.
Josh Downs ($12,000)
Josh Downs is back to being a DFS darling. He’s a standout in the slot, with elite footwork that helps him create tremendous separation. With Joe Flacco ($14,700) under center, his chance to make an impact increases dramatically. Having an accurate quarterback is half the battle, and Anthony Richardson’s sub-50% completion rate offered an impossible situation for any receiver to thrive.
Downs averages seven receptions per game with the 39-year-old gunslinger at the helm this season, proving he’s a PPR monster in the right environment. Minnesota allows the most fantasy points to pass catchers in the NFL. The second-year pro deserves crown consideration as a budget option compared to the other two captain targets.
