There’s no shortage of storylines for this week’s Thursday night matchup. The Jets are a mess, which no one could’ve seen coming. (Because that doesn’t sound anything like the Jets at all, right?) The Texans have been handed another obstacle with Stefon Diggs hitting injured reserve. Makes it harder to cast predictions for Texans vs. Jets, but there is definitely a lean at this stage amongst DraftKings Sportsbook bettors.
We’ll take stock of the predictions made for this game by combing through the moneyline, spread and game total betting splits from Texans vs. Jets.
Game splits
Moneyline
Houston is the clear public play. Seventy-six percent of the moneyline bets have been cast toward the Texans (+110).
But, they are not the sharp play.
While only 24% of the moneyline bets have been on the Jets, those plays have accounted for 39% of the moneyline handle. A 15 percentage-point difference should not be ignored.
Spread
Similar situation to the moneyline with the spread only being 1.5. Only 41% of the spread handle has been cast in the Jets’ favor, but on just 27% of the handle.
As for the spread’s movement, the opening line was 1-even, in favor of the Jets. However, the Texans did flip to 1-point favorites for a bit. But then things went back in the Jets’ favor, with New York topping out as a 2.5-point favorite before working back down to -1.5.
Total
After opening at 43.5, the game total has topped out at 44 and bottomed out at 42. The total seems to be settling in on the lower end of this short spectrum at 42.5.
There’s only a slight edge with this play. On 30% of the game-total bets, under plays have made up 32% of the game-total handle. But, this is a play that could shift in either direction. Best ot check back in as more Texans vs. Jets predictions are made.
