It’s been two weeks since Nick Chubb returned to the field, which is great to see after such a tough injury last season. However, he has not been effective to start his 2024 season. He already has a solid sample size to examine, receiving 27 carries in his two games. So what has he done with those 27 carries? Well, the reality is not much. He has 74 rush yards on the season and a touchdown while averaging 2.7 yards per attempt. Chubb has also not been effective in the passing game, only catching one of his five targets for 10 yards. He did have a one-yard touchdown run in his first game back, but other than that, he has had little to no fantasy value, only averaging 7.7 fantasy points per game on DraftKings.
In Week 9, the Browns will host the Chargers, who are stellar against the run. Los Angeles is 11th in that category, only allowing 112 yards per game on the ground. In DraftKings fantasy scoring, the Chargers allow the fourth-fewest FPTS to opposing running backs. Although I do expect Chubb to continue to improve as the season goes on, I would say he is better off on your bench in Week 9. If you are struggling to find someone to fill an RB2 or Flex position I would start him as a last resort, but barring some goal-line touches, I don’t see him being productive this Sunday.
The Verdict: Sit Chubb in Week 9 if you can.
